How To Style Art Prints

How to Style Art Prints

You bought an adorable art print off of Etsy, from your favorite local maker, or the boutique down the street. Popping that art print in a frame is the easiest and most obvious choice. If you don't already have a frame, or even if you do, here are some easy, traditional and unique ideas of how to use and style art prints in your home.

1. Use a Wooden Hanger

Prints do not always have to go in frames! I love a good frame, but sometimes you just want something different. My friend Sharon recently purchased this darling print featuring the lettering "Dawn of Redeeming Grace". She hung the print from a wooden hanger and added it to a nursery gallery wall. Not only does this look cute, but it makes hanging the print simple.

The gorgeous weaving on her gallery wall is from her Etsy shop! Check it out: HERE. The art print is from my etsy shop. Check it out right HERE.

2. Style with Other Decorations

Sometimes we get a print, find the perfect frame, but are still uncertain where to actually put it! Take a step back and look around your home. Are there areas already decorated with a similar style where you could easily put the print? My friend Olivia, grouped her print (above) with a decorative window and vases. Not only does this grouping look great, but she didn't even have to worry about hanging it up! There are lots of areas already decorated in your home where a framed print would fit perfectly!

Love the print pictured? Find it HERE!

3. Use Washi Tape

Want to create a temporary gallery wall, or nervous about putting holes in the wall?! Use washi tape (colorful Japanese masking tape made from rice paper // find the gold pictured HERE) to hang art prints for a fun display. This makes it easy to move, switch out art prints, and can be done very quickly!

These are three easy tips to help you decorate and style art prints more confidently! Enjoy!

Branding: Fern and the Fawn

Business cards and custom stamp created for Fern and the Fawn.

Last fall I had the great pleasure of working with my friend Sharon on a logo + branding for her new venture - fern and the fawn. Sharon creates unique home decor with lots of texture and a dash of bohemian and whimsical inspiration. When Sharon approached me to brand her new company I knew it was going to be a great fit. She has a great sense of style and her ideas pushed me to grow as a designer.

There is a lot of research, sketching and time that goes into a logo and the branding process as a whole. I wanted to create something that reflected Sharon's style and would grow with her company. We went through multiple rounds of edits to get everything just right.

The final branding for fern and the fawn captured the personality and esthetic of Sharon's work. Below is a brand style sheet that shows the various brand elements. We opted for a hand-drawn look as well as hand-drawn natural details to reflect the handmade nature of her business. We then paired that with watercolor and warm pinks and corals to make it whimsical and welcoming.

It was a joy to watch her excitement as the designs took shape. That will always be one of my favorite parts of designing - creating something that brings joy to others.

Now, do yourself a favor and check out Sharon's shop on Etsy, you won't be disappointed. If you are a local Lincoln dweller, you can also check out her items for sale at the Pilgrimer.

If you are interested in logo/brand design, or have questions please contact me. I would love to be a part of your journey!
