Motherhood is a beautiful thing. It is joy-filled, exciting, refining and exhausting. The title of mama, no matter how it comes to you - whether through birth or adoption, is something that is held dear. Becoming a mama myself this past year has been one of the greatest joys in my life. I absolutely love the title.
So, I dreamed up a beautiful mug for all the mamas out there. One that will proudly show off your name while holding your coffee or tea to nourish your sleep-deprived self. A mug that you can gift to the mama in your life who means so much to you so she can proudly be reminded of the name so many call her. Mama’s are known for giving of themselves to others and this is exactly the thought behind this mug as well.

The Mama mug features beautiful gold floral illustration pattern that I had sketched out a couple different versions of before settling on this one, and the hand lettered word ‘mama’. I created it so that the design would wrap around the mug, and be visible on both sides. This way no matter how you hold the mug you can see, and show off your title of mama!

While this mug was still in the idea phase, we received a magazine from one of our favorite non-profits Hope Venture, based here in Lincoln, NE. The Hope Venture’s goal is to bring hope and dignity to the most disadvantaged people in the world. The magazine highlighted the different projects and giving opportunities they are a part of across the globe in India and Africa.
As I flipped through the magazine, one particular page caught my eye. The project would directly impact the lives of pregnant women in Africa through a kit that cost just $7. For $7 I could provide an expecting mother clean and safe supplies to aid her in the delivery of her baby. My mind instantly flashed to the whole team of people that helped me give birth to our son, the pristine hospital room, the nurses checking in on me, the warm blankets, the monitors, my OB etc. Every mother who has given birth, no matter where it was knows the experience and all the particulars that went into it. My heart instantly connected with these moms, and I knew I wanted to help them. Just $7 to help a woman have clean safe supplies to deliver her baby? Sold. Sign me up. Then God gently whispered to my heart, “Remember that design idea you have for a mug? What if you used that to help these mamas? What if you invited others to be a part of helping these women?”

With that nudge from God I became even more excited to create this design. I decided that with the sale of every mama mug $7 would be donated to the Hope Venture’s Mama Kit project to provide an expectant mother with potentially life-saving supplies. Your mug purchase gets you a beautiful mug to enjoy, and will provide a mother in Africa the supplies she needs.
